Pete Townshend wishes he had never formed legendary band The Who - because his rock 'n' roll lifestyle wrecked his health.
The guitarist formed the My Generation hitmakers in the early 1960s and has spent five decades touring and recording with his bandmates.
But the 65 year old is beginning to regret his years of hard living as old age approaches - as he has been left with a litany of health issues including partial deafness and a constant ringing in his ears, knee problems, and a wrist injury.
Townshend tells Uncut magazine, "What would I have done differently? I would never have joined the band.
"I'd have made a much more effective solo performer. I would be less damaged - my knees, ears, right wrist and shoulder would work more effectively."
