British rocker Peter Hook has blasted reports an unreleased track by his former band JOY DIVISION has been unearthed, branding the song a hoax.
Earlier this week (beg27Feb12), rumours circulated online that a previously unheard tune by the cult band has been discovered.
But Hook has now spoken out to insist the group playing on the track, title Aerial, is not Joy Division, who relaunched themselves as New Order after frontman Ian Curtis' suicide in 1980.
Bassist Hook tells NME.com, "I've heard it. It's a hoax and it's bl**dy awful. They're quite clever, these guys, they sound like college kids to me, they've captured the atmosphere quite well, but it's a hoax. If Ian Curtis ever sang lyrics like that, I'd have kicked him up the a**e."
