Pink Floyd - Pink Floyd School To Close
A London school Pink Floyd help found in 1971 is set to close due to U.K. government budget cuts.
The rockers, who famously sang Another Brick In The Wall about disaffected schoolkids, aided the set-up of the Schoolhouse Education facility in Lewisham, south London, which helped kids who dropped out of mainstream education gain qualifications.
The band raised funds for the school by performing a special gig in 1972, before it was awarded government funding.
However, due to cuts made to local council budgets, the school will close next month (Jun11) after its funding was axed by officials.
Principal Lynda Smith tells Britain's News of the World, "We would not exist if it were not for Pink Floyd - their most famous song is about the sort of teenagers we are trying to help. Now we are looking for another miracle if we are to stay in existence."
