Pippa Middleton has written her first column for Waitrose magazine.

The 29-year-old party planner - whose sister is the Duchess of Cambridge - will be writing a monthly food column called 'Pippa's Friday Night Feasts' as she believes Fridays are made for relaxation, and in her first piece she gives tips on how to make tasty sushi.

Pippa wrote: ''I convinced my flat mates to help, promising we'd prepare it in front of the rugby on TV that afternoon. The trickiest part was cooking the rice but even that, once we got a feel for the right stickiness, was easy, while the rolling just required patience.''

Despite admitting that she feels ''exhausted'' once Friday arrives, she still thinks it is the perfect time to cook with friends and get the weekend started.

She added: ''Regardless of how tired I might be, the moment Friday lunchtime arrives I get that contagious pre-weekend excitement. Even if I'm feeling exhausted and don't feel like doing anything but watching telly, I can put off being tired till Saturday.

''Fridays, of course, hold the promise of the weekend but also, being far enough away from pre-Monday melancholy.''

In Pippa's first column, she also advises readers on how to set the mood for their evening, suggesting the use of ''bright flowers'' to ''soften angular Asian-style tableware'' and gives recipes for hoisin duck rolls, sushi rolls and ginger mojitos.
