Placebo have been forced to cancel their Lille, France gig on Friday night (29SEP06) after frontman BRIAN MOLKO was struck down with tonsillitis. The NANCY BOY hitmaker, 33, consulted a specialist on Tuesday (26SEP06) who diagnosed him with a severe case of the illness and spent two days in hospital, before he was released earlier this morning (28SEP06). The Belgian-born star is still hopeful he will recover in time for their second gig in Lille on Saturday (30SEP06). A statement on their website reads, "Placebo very much regret having to cancel a show and are aware how disappointing this is for the fans who've bought tickets and have been waiting a long time to see the band. Brian is devastated at the timing of this illness and apologises to all the fans. "It's particularly disappointing as this was the very first show of the band's autumn European arena tour. We will however be re-scheduling the show and all tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled date.
