Police Cleared In Smiley Culture's Death
British police linked to the death of reggae star Smiley Culture have escaped criminal charges following an investigation.
The Police Officer and Cockney Translation hitmaker, real name David Emmanuel, died from a stab wound to the heart during a police drug raid on his home in Surrey, England in March (11).
Reports suggested the reggae star stabbed himself.
Officials at the Independent Police Complaints Commission (Ipcc) initially ruled the investigation into his death was "not satisfactory", but the criticism was not strong enough to start misconduct procedures.
Now, the Ipcc has cleared officers of committing any criminal offences during the raid.
Emmanuel was facing a charge of conspiracy to supply cocaine at the time of his death.
An inquest into Emmanuel's death is scheduled for early next year (12).
