Artist Gerald Laing has died at the age of 75.
Laing passed away on Wednesday (23Nov11) after a battle with cancer, according to the Bbc.
The veteran pop artist was close pals with Andy Warhol, and became famous for his images of Brigitte Bardot.
Only last month (Oct11), he showcased an exhibition of his drawings and paintings of Amy Winehouse, and vowed to donate 20 per cent of the proceeds of his paintings of the star to the addiction charity set up in her name after her death in July (11).
Also a sculptor, Laing's statue of Sherlock Holmes stands in Edinburgh, while other notable works have been erected at London's Bank Underground Station and at Twickenham Rugby Stadium near London.
