Spanish pop star Alejandro Sanz has married his long-time girlfriend Raquel Perera in a private ceremony in Barcelona, Spain. The newlyweds tied the knot on May 23, 2012 and baptized their son Dylan three days later.
In a statement to CNN, the couple said, "It was a very beautiful day, unique and moving and everything went as we had dreamed". The couple's wedding was held "in the strictest privacy" at Sanz's farm in the town of Jarandilla de la Vera. Sanz, 43, was born in Madrid and raised in the Andalusia area of Spain. A singer-songwriter and guitarist known for his flamenco-inspired music, Sanz has won a total of fifteen Latin Grammy Awards and three Grammy Awards. He has won the Latin Grammy for 'Album of the Year' on three separate occasions - more times than any other artist. He was previous married to the Mexican fashion model and actress Jaydy Michel, though the nuptials were never legally recognized in either of their home countries.
The musician's latest album 'Paraiso Express' was released in 2009 to a generally positive reception. It topped the U.S. Billboard Latin Albums chart.
