Powell & Pressburger Honoured At Karlovy Film Fest.
Legendary film partners Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger are set to be posthumously honoured at the Czech Republic's Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
The British director and Hungarian screenwriter made nearly 20 films together during their partnership and often shared writing, producing and directing credits.
They are often cited as a key influences by filmmakers Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola and they will now receive a special tribute at the Czech film festival.
The 45th annual event, which runs from 2 to 10 July (10), will celebrate Powell and Pressburger's influence with a retrospective of their works, which include iconic films A Matter of Life and Death, Black Narcissus, The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp and the Red Shoes.
Oscar-winner Pressburger died of pneumonia in 1988, aged 85; his partner, Powell, died in 1990, aged 84.
