Primal Scream - Primal Scream Plan New Album
Primal Scream think they are getting better as musicians and hope to release a new album next year.
Primal Scream plan to release a new album next year.
The group are currently touring the UK, performing the whole of their iconic 1991 album 'Screamadelica' in full, and while they enjoy showing how well they have developed as musicians sine the record was released, they insist they won't trade on their back catalogue forever.
Keyboardist Martin Duffy said: "We are working on new material at the moment with an album out maybe next year. This tour is just to keep us in the public eye.
"When you play live you still play a lot of the old songs anyway. As musicians the older you get, hopefully, the better you get as a player. We're lucky that we are still going and people still come to see us.
"Musicians don't retire - unless they make too much money!"
Despite the album being 20 years old, the 'Loaded' hitmakers are performing some of the tracks from the record for the first time and Martin believes it is a good test of their musical abilities to be able to replicate their earlier sound as close to perfectly as possible.
He explained: "We spent a lot of time going over all the old samples and getting it as close as it could. We will have DJs with us, possibly Andy Wetherall, who worked on the original album.
"From the gigs we did in Australia at the beginning of the year the show went down very well. There are three or four songs from the album that we have never played live, such as 'Shine Like Stars', which are more mellow.
"It's good discipline for us to show other sides to our playing."
