Music producer ROGER GREENAWALT will attempt to break the world record of continued ukulele playing in New York on Sunday (6Dec09) as part of a quirky Beatles marathon.
Greenawalt has organised the second annual Beatles Complete on Ukulele Festival and is expecting over 100 singers and musicians to take part in the 13-hour event at the Brooklyn Bowl - but he has a very special reason to be there.
He will be playing ukulele Beatles hits onstage throughout the festival - and feels sure he will be able to score a handful of world records.
Greenaway will be joined by children's TV stars the Naked Brothers and rockers Guster. A scheduling conflict has prompted the event's big name, Vanessa Carlton, to pull out.
More than 16 Yoko Ono impersonators will be on hand to perform throughout the day. John Lennon's widow will be the beneficiary for the event and she plans to donate the money raised to charity.
