Joel Schumacher's longtime movie collaborator Eli Richbourg has died after suffering a brain aneurysm.

The writer/producer passed away in Paris, France on 20 March (13), according to Deadline.com. He was 42.

Richbourg worked in the art department on Schumacher's 1995 film Batman Forever and became his assistant on the following year's (96) A Time To Kill, and rewrote many of the director's films.

On 1999's 8Mm, he rose to second unit director and went on to serve as associate producer on movies such as Tigerland, Bad Company and Phone Booth, before co-producing Phantom Of The Opera.

In more recent years, Richbourg rewrote Schumacher's Trespass and sold a Rambo reboot pitch to film bosses at Millennium Entertainment.

He is survived by his wife Gaelle and a two-year-old son, Paul, and a fund has been set up to help support the youngster's education.
