The three surviving members of John Lennon's first band The Quarrymen are to play a special charity concert just yards from the late BEATLE's former home in New York to mark his 70th birthday.
Lennon would have turned 70 on Saturday (09Oct10) and The Quarrymen will be joined by veteran musicians including Pete Seeger, Tom Paxton, and Earl Slick for the commemorative show.
The concert, in aid of Amnesty International, will take place at the Society For Ethical Culture in Manhattan's Upper West Side, just six blocks from The Dakota apartment building where Lennon lived until his death in 1980.
The Quarrymen, who are headlining the event, will play the early rock 'n' roll standards they often performed with Lennon, Paul MCCartney, and George Harrison in the years before The Beatles formed.
Seeger will then lead the performers, including a children's choir, in a mass rendition of Lennon's classic anthem Give Peace A Chance.
