R&B singer BILLY SCOTT has lost his battle with pancreatic and liver cancer at the age of 70.

He passed away at his home in Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday (17Nov12).

Born Peter Pendelton, the singer first developed his love for music while enrolled in the U.S. Army, and once he was discharged, he began recording with his wife Barbara under the moniker The Prophets.

He later became famous for hits like I Got The Fever, California and Seaside Love.

Scott also served as Chairman of the Beach Music Association International and was inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame in 1999.
