The X Factor - R. Kelly Makes Live Comeback After Throat Surgery
R. Kelly gave his first performance since his emergency throat surgery by singing on the final of America's The X Factor on Wednesday night (21Dec11).
The R&B star was admitted to a Chicago, Illinois hospital in July (11) to have an abscess in a tonsil drained after days of severe pain.
He cancelled all of his commitments to recuperate, but on Wednesday he made his live comeback on the first part of the U.S. reality TV show's finale.
R. Kelly sang his hit I Believe I Can Fly with wannabe Melanie Amaro, and he revealed on his Twitter.com page how much the performance meant to him.
In a post before he took to the stage, the star wrote, "To have been thru (through) what I have been thru - having throat surgery and not only unable to sing, but not even able to talk - and to end up on the stage of X Factor tonight shows the true power of God."
The winner of The X Factor will be crowned during the results show on Thursday night (22Dec11).
