Rap mogul J-Diggs has broken his silence about his weekend (08-09Sep12) arrest in Oahu, Hawaii, revealing he and his associates were just trying to defend themselves from burly locals.
The Thizz Entertainment president, real name Jamal Diggs, and three members of his entourage were arrested and charged with assault and attempted murder after allegedly attacking security men outside the Big Kahuna bar in Waikiki.
According to Diggs' publicist, witness testimony confirms the rapper and his crew were acting in self-defence - but they were the only ones arrested.
He was released on bail and now claims he has been victimised because he doesn't hail from Hawaii.
In a statement obtained by WENN, he writes, "Me and 3 of my entourage got kicked out of Big Kahuna bar and grill. The security punched one of my dudes in the Jaw as the police were pulling up, so we went across the street and posted on the strip.
"Four large island security guards came across the street demanding us to get off the strip and that's when it turned into an all-out brawl on Waikiki beach... I was charged with slapping and beating a 6 foot 4, 320 pound security (guard) and his friend with a board... Another dude's throat is cut... And three out of the four went to the hospital with major head back and neck wounds.
"The dudes wrote statements against us and we were all charged."
Diggs' representative tells WENN the rapper has been indicted and he is due back in court on Monday (17Sep12) to answer the assault charges.
She says, "His lawyer is working on obtaining video footage that will prove the security guys approached his crew."
Despite the legal trouble, Diggs has vowed to press ahead with plans to stage a concert in Fairfax, California on Friday (14Sep12).
In a post on Twitter.com, he writes, "Make no mistake about it I'll b (sic) at my show Friday in Fairfax And back in Hawaii for court Monday."
