Chief Keef - Rapper Chief Keef Convicted Of Parole Violation
Rap newcomer Chief Keef has been jailed after he was found guilty of violating his probation.
The rising teen star, real name Keith Cozart, appeared in Cook County juvenile court in Illinois on Tuesday (15Jan13) to answer allegations he illegally fired a weapon during a video interview at a New York gun range last year (12).
The terms of his probation, from a 2011 firearms conviction, forbid him from handling or using guns, and Judge Carl Anthony Walker ruled he had shown a "willful disregard" of the court and remanded him in custody.
The 17 year old, who did not speak during the two-hour hearing, will be sentenced on Thursday (17Jan13).
Cozart managed to dodge a separate probation violation accusation earlier this month (Jan13) after he failed to notify authorities of his change in address in Chicago.
His attorney, Dennis Berkson, argued the Finally Rich hitmaker simply left his grandmother's home in Dolton to spend time with his uncle in nearby Northbrook so he could be closer to his studio, and Judge Walker agreed not to pursue legal action.
