Rapper Mac Miller has urged his fans to stop bombarding Lord Finesse with rude messages via Twitter.com after the hip-hop icon slapped him with a $10 million (£6.25 million) lawsuit.
Producer Finesse launched legal action on Monday (09Jul12), accusing Miller of illegally sampling his 1995 track Hip 2 The Game on his breakout hit Kool Aid & Frozen Pizza.
Miller has responded to the suit, insisting he did "nothing wrong" and maintaining that Finesse's track is based on an Oscar Peterson jazz beat the veteran doesn't own the rights to.
The two artists spoke over the phone on Wednesday (11Jul12) to clear the air, but Finesse has apparently refused to withdraw his court papers, which demand compensation for charges including copyright infringement, unfair competition, unjust enrichment, interference and deceptive trade practices.
Despite the legal proceedings, the 20 year old has asked his devotees not to insult Finesse and to show some respect to the legendary star.
Taking to his Twitter.com blog Miller writes, "I just talked to Lord Finesse. He's still suing me. To my fans, don't be disrespectful. Finesse is a legend. If you have a problem with his actions be intelligent about it and be respectful."
