Razorlight Singer 'Not Too Serious'

Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell isn't getting "too serious about things" with the band's new album.

The singer and guitarist is working on the follow up to the band's third album 'Slipway Fires', and said he wants the 'Wire To Wire' group to concentrate on the upbeat, rockier sound which marked their earlier career.

Johnny told radio station Xfm: "Big bands get too serious about things. You get very self important and rock and roll is not worth taking too seriously.

"The last album was a breakup album and I'm not breaking up with anybody at the moment, thank God, so this is another party album.

"To me it is going back more to the spirit and the energy of 'Up All Night' or the 'Somewhere Else' kind of Razorlight, which is my favourite period of the band - it's an energetic rock 'n' roll album."

The singer also said he's been trying to "keep under the radar" while he records ideas for the album, and has been playing shows unannounced around London.

Johnny also said he didn't know if he'd ever work with drummer Andy Burrows, who left the band in 2009 due to fallouts with the singer.

Johnny said: "I'm just glad that he is doing something that makes him happy, I have plenty of respect for him."
