Leeds & Reading Festival have announced the first wave of acts at this year's festivals. Playling the opening day at Leeds and closing at Reading on the Main Stage will be the Foo Fighters, playing their only UK appearances this year. The Cure and Kasabian will also be heading the festivals; The Cure will also be playing their only UK festival appearances of 2012, while for Kasabian, Reading and Leeds Festival will be their only England and Wales festival appearance.

Other acts playing the Main Stage will be Florence and the Machine; Angels And Airwaves and Pulled Apart By Horses. Elsewhere, the NME / Radio 1 Stage will play host to acts such as The Maccabees; Foster The People and THE COURTENEERS.

The MACcabees enjoyed critical and commercial success with the release of their most recent album, Given to the Wild. It has spawned two hit singles so far: Pelican and Feel to Follow. Foster the People shot to fame in 2011 with their debut single, Pumped Up Kicks, become the sleeper hit of the summer. The Courteneers reached number three in the UK Album Charts with their 2010 album Falcon.

Reading and Leeds Festival traditionally takes place over the August bank holiday weekend every year and this year is no exception. Taking place from the 24-26th, the festival will be held at Richfield Avenue in Reading and Bramham Park in Leeds. Tickets are available to buy through the festival's website.
