The promoters of Britain's annual Reading festival have been fined for breaching health and safety rules.
On Thursday (08Oct09), a judge at the city's magistrate's court ruled that Reading Festivals Ltd failed to carry out a proper risk assessment and ensure its workers' safety after a crane ran into power lines at the event's site in 2006.
The company was ordered to pay a $6,000 (£4,000) penalty and cover the $32,650 (£21,769) legal fees for the case.
Festival organiser Melvin Benn was cleared of 18 counts of failing to ensure the safety of contractors.
