Reggae Star Releases Record To Support Obama's Presidential Campaign
Jamaican reggae star COCOA TEA is helping U.S. presidential hopeful Barack Obama rally support for his White House campaign by releasing a new track in his honour. Cocoa Tea - real name Calvin Scott - is urging Americans to "to unite as one" and vote for the Democratic frontrunner, labelling the inspirational politician a "trendsetter". The song, simply entitled Barack Obama, is being released in the U.S. this week (begs10Mar08) by New York's VP Records. The 48-year-old star says, "The young people who are supporting him want change - and that's what he represents." Scott joins a host of stars to come out and publicly support the Illinois senator's run for president, including Michael Keaton, Halle Berry, Jessica Alba, will.i.am, Oprah Winfrey and Will Smith, as well as fellow Caribbean musician Mighty Sparrow who recently recorded a track titled Barack The Magnificent.
