Legendary music producer Quincy Jones is re-teaming with Lionel Richie to record an updated version of their star-studded 1985 hit WE ARE THE WORLD, to benefit Haitian earthquake victims.
The original song, written by Jones and Michael Jackson, featured Richie, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Cyndi Lauper, Billy Joel and other artists. Proceeds from the single benefited African famine relief.
Co-producers Jones and Richie have reportedly invited Usher, John Legend and Natalie Cole and numerous other performers to record the updated anniversary edition, following last week's (12Jan10) devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake.
A music video will accompany the new version.
