Rihanna Fans To Protest Brown
Friday the 13th is going to be a tough day for troubled R&B star Chris Brown - angry Rihanna fans are staging a protest in New York, where the R&B star's posters will be ripped up and CDs shredded.
Thousands of Rihanna devotees are expected to take part in the pre-St. Valentine's Day protest, arranged by radio station WBLI and the wounded singer's fan club officials.
The supporters are upset with Brown after he reportedly lashed out at his girlfriend during an early-morning row on Sunday (08Feb09).
The singer allegedly left Rihanna with cuts and bruises to her face, which prompted the Umbrella hitmaker to seek medical attention and then pull out of a scheduled performance at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night.
Brown, who has been charged with making criminal threats, also cancelled his appearance at the Grammys.
WBLI operations manager Nancy Cambino hopes to turn the Chris Brown protest into a 'Shred Your Ex' party, urging anyone caught up in the wrong relationship to dump their partner on the eve of St. Valentine's Day.
She tells WENN, "Valentine's Day should stand for love, so we find it fitting to make the Friday the 13th a day for revenge for those who were unlucky in love. Whether you're a Rihanna fan or not, we can all empathise with being with someone who caused love to go wrong."
The New York protest will begin on Friday morning outside the radio station's studios in West Babylon, New York.
