The much-loved and respected actor Richard Lynch has died, aged 76. He was found dead at his home on Tuesday (June 19, 2012) though the reasons for his death remain unknown.
Lynch suffered permanent scarring after setting himself on fire after experimenting with Lsd in new York's Central Park, though used this to his advantage by playing villainous characters in horror flicks - most notably 'Scarecrow' in 1973 and Rob Zombie's Halloween reboot in 2007. The American musician and director paid tribute to Lynch on his Facebook page, saying, "I woke up this morning to the news that our friend Richard Lynch has passed away. Richard was great to work with and really gave it his all. I will never forget the way he scared the crap out of the kid actors in Halloween". In fact, the last movie that the actor worked on was Zombie's forthcoming film 'The Lords of Salem', which is yet to be released. The film follows the residents of Salem, Massachusetts, who are visited by a 300-year-old coven of witches.
As well as his horror performances, Lynch also appeared in a number of sci-fi shows, including Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek: The Next Generation. Before his career in acting, Lynch served in the United States Marine Corps between 1956 and 1960.
