British singer Robbie Williams has issued a foul-mouthed statement to fans who complained about his bad language during Take That's shows - insisting swear words "can't be beaten".
A number of audience members have been left aghast by the Angels hitmaker's profanities during the band's Progress Live tour, and Britain's Daily Mirror reported many walked out of their Tuesday (05Jul11) show in London after Williams arrived onstage and declared, "Let me introduce myself, my name is Robbie f**king Williams".
But Williams is unrepentant about his choice of words and has taken to his official blog to explain the reasons for his bad language.
In a post on his site, he writes, "I like swear words... I know they are frowned up (upon) and the refuge of the uneducated but so be it... f**k, f**king... can't be beaten... 'Allow me to re-introduce myself, my name is Robert 'f**king' Williams...'
"You have no idea how good it feels to say that in front of 80 thousand people... it's liberating and a statement of intent... I'm not a fan of the literal meaning though... I wouldn't use them when actually referring to sex."
