Actor Robert Carlyle is quitting coffee for 40 days to raise money for charity.
The Trainspotting star is taking part in the Christian tradition of Lent, during which followers cut out a favourite food or activity in the run-up to Easter.
And Carlyle is donating the money he would have spent on coffee to the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund's (Sciaf) Wee Box, Big Change campaign, to help families in developing countries.
He says, "Sciaf give a hand up, not a handout, providing practical help such as seeds, tools and training so that people can feed themselves and their families, not just today but in the future.
"This Lent, I'm giving up coffee and putting the money I save into my wee box."
