Robert De Niro - Robert De Niro Returning To Ground Zero For Special
Robert De Niro will host a special program from inside Ground Zero on the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, reports the Los Angeles Times. The film, by French filmmakers Jules and Gedeon Naudet, will focus on the lives of the fire-fighters involved in the rescue mission.
New Yorker De Niro, who hosted the Naudet's original Emmy Award winning program '9/11', will once again return to Ground Zero to host '9/11: 10 years later'. The original film was intended to be a documentary about New York fire-fighters, but the planes struck the World Trade Centre while the Naudets were shooting the movie. They then followed fire-fighters inside the site and captured 75 minutes of rare footage inside the North Tower before it collapsed. The new film joins a documentary by Jim Whitaker titled 'Rebirth' as part of CBS' September 11th retrospectives. '10 Years Later' reportedly contains the only known footage of the first plane striking the Trade Centre - a clip that was not featured in the original movie.
Robert De Niro, who has residences in both the east and west sides of Manhattan, recently completed shooting the upcoming comedy 'Another Bullshit Night in Suck City'.
