Robert Pattinson - Robert Pattinson Stuns Mtv Movie Awards With 'F' Word
Twilight star Robert Pattinson turned the air blue at the MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night (05Jun11) when he uttered the 'F' word during an awkward tribute to Water For Elephants co-star Reese Witherspoon.
He was too quick for censors on the East Coast of the U.S. who allowed the expletive to go out live, stunning audience members and viewers alike.
Reading from a scrap of paper in his hand, the unprepared actor joked about how Witherspoon had been responsible for cutting him out of her film Vanity Fair at the beginning of his career - when he played her son.
Pattinson stated, "Seven years later we worked together on a movie called Water For Elephants and this time you played my lover. I didn't cut you out, but I did f**k you."
As censors bleeped the stunned reaction from the audience, instead of the expletive itself, awkward Pattinson rambled on about messing up "the crucial point of that joke" and insisted he couldn't read his own writing.
The actor then added cryptically, "Southern girls can wear girdles but they can't talk about it," and then looked embarrassed when no one understood his joke.
Co-presenters Patrick Dempsey and Chelsea Handler laughed nervously as Pattinson continued, "It is possible to be 33 per cent lesbian - not mentioning any names."
Meanwhile, a giggling Witherspoon held her head in her hands.
Witherspoon's pal Handler then quipped, "What a tough act to follow."
Accepting the Mtv Generation Award at the prizegiving, Witherspoon attempted to explain Pattinson's naughty gag, saying, "The punchline to your joke was I played your mother and then we had a sex scene, so really you're the best motherf**ker in Hollywood."
Her expletive was bleeped out.
