Rocker Mike Scaccia died of a heart attack, according to a coroner's report.

The 47-year-old guitarist was performing with metal band Rigor Mortis in Fort Worth, Texas last Saturday (22Dec12) when he collapsed onstage.

Scaccia was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, and reports suggested he suffered a seizure.

However, it has now emerged Scaccia was suffering from heart disease and editors at Classic Rock magazine report the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's office ruled his death as natural.

A memorial for Scaccia will take place in Mansfield, Texas on Sunday (30Dec12) and a fundraising campaign has also been started for the late star's family by his Rigor Mortis bandmate Bruce Corbitt.

In a post on his online fundraising page, Corbitt writes, "Mike Scaccia left this Earth doing what he loved to do. Tragically the music world has lost an extremely talented, gifted and unique guitar virtuoso. His music and his legend will live on forever. But a loving husband, father, son and brother etc... can never be replaced.

"We can and we will make sure that Mike's wife and his kids are taken care of. So I would like to ask anyone that can make a donation... big or small... do it now. Please understand that this is what would mean the most to Mike."
