Rapper Rocko is replacing Rick Ross' controversial lyrics on his track U.O.E.N.O. (You Ain't Even Know It) and releasing a more radio-friendly version of the song.

Ross sparked outrage last month (Mar13) with his guest appearance on Rocko's track, which appeared to condone rape after referencing spiking a woman's drink with drugs and engaging in sexual activities without her knowledge.

The hip-hop star has since apologised for his words but Rocko has chosen to distance himself from the controversy by releasing an alternative version of the song with a new verse to replace Ross'.

In an interview with radio station Hot 97, Rocko, real name Rodney Ramone Hill, Jr., admits it was a hard decision to make as he didn't want to offend Ross, but recognised he would have to change the words to make the record commercially viable.

He says, "The record instantly became a smash... in the streets. So with me, I feel like I'm a street artist so I feel like the record with Ross... will always be the original record. But because of the type of attraction the record has, as far as... radio and all over the country and things of that nature, it puts me in a position to where I have to change it.

"Right now, I have six different verses from all type of different, talented artists... but I haven't put the record together yet. In life you have to put everything on the scale... If it's not weighing up then you just have to do what you have to do.

"With all respect to the homie (pal) Ross... it's a Catch 22 (difficult situation). Cause (sic) it's like I don't want to take him off... It doesn't matter who I put on the song that's gonna always be the original version of it."
