Christmas has come early for Rod Stewart - the old rocker is back at the top of America's adult contemporary chart for the first time in 19 years thanks to a new festive tune.

Stewart's rendition of Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow, from his new album Merry Christmas, Baby, has shot to the top of the countdown - his first number one since Have I Told You Lately in May, 1993.

It's the singer's fourth chart-topper - Rod also hit number one with Downtown Train and This Old Heart of Mine.

Stewart's Christmas album looks set to become the season's biggest seller after debuting in the top five of the Billboard 200 album chart earlier this month (Nov12) and selling upwards of 240,000 copies so far.
