Ron Howard - Ron Howard Committed To Stepen Stephen King's 'The Dark Tower'

Ron Howard has responded to those eager to learn the status of his planned adaptation of Stephen King's novel series 'The Dark Tower', telling fans he is "fully committed" to the project despite lengthy delays. The acclaimed filmmaker will next release racing movie 'Rush', but insists he has no plans to scrap 'The Dark Tower'
Speaking to, Howard said, "We are continuing to work on the script to find ways to make the budget more manageable and still deliver the work in a way that the project deserves". The book series, which King describes as his magnum opus, explores themes from multiple genres including fantasy, horror and western. It follows a 'Gunslinger' and his quest toward both a physical and metaphorical 'tower'. Howard excited fans after first attaching himself to the project, but claims, "We were always racing and fast-tracking the project, so I always wince when I see something written about it and there's a release date in there. These kinds of projects often take years to come together in the right ways. But I am in love with the material. I am fully committed to it". His next movie 'Rush' is a biography of Formula 1 champion Niki Lauda, focusing mainly on the 1976 crash that almost claimed his life and his fierce rivalry with fellow driver James Hunt. The movie stars Olivia Wilde and Russell Crowe and is set for release in 2013.
Howard, who played Richie in cult sitcom Happy Days, is regarded as one of the industry's finest filmmakers having received critical acclaimed for his movies Cocoon, Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind and Frost/Nixon.
