Country star Ronnie Dunn is stepping in to replace his singer pal Kix Brooks at a concert on Friday (23Mar12) after he suffered burst a vocal cord.
Brooks was due to headline a free radio station show at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena in Florida, but he had to pull out of the gig after experiencing problems with his voice.
The Sacred Ground hitmaker has also axed a show in Las Vegas next week (29Mar12) to allow him time to recuperate.
In a Twitter.com post on Thursday (22Mar12), he wrote, "Oh no!! banged up vocal chords- two weeks down! So sorry to fans in Jacksonville and Vegas - we'll be back!!"
After hearing the news, Dunn volunteered to save the day and perform at Friday's show instead.
Taking to his Twitter account late on Thursday night to announce the news to fans, Dunn wrote, "@Singainaband will fill in for @KixBrooks at tomorrow's Gator Country Concert in Jacksonville, FL."
The stars have been friends for over two decades - in 1989 they formed hugely popular country duo Brooks & Dunn, before disbanding in 2010.
