Actor Mark Ruffalo has urged his online fans to donate to the relief effort in Turkey following a devastating earthquake on Sunday (23Oct11).
More than 550 people died as dozens of buildings collapsed after the powerful tremor struck in the city of Van, and rescuers fear the death toll will rise as they continue to search the debris for survivors.
Thousands have been left homeless and Ruffalo has pledged a donation to a relief fund - and he wants his fans to do the same.
In a series of posts on his Twitter.com page, he writes, "Good thoughts for all the people in Turkey suffering there from the recent Earthquake. Blessings Turkish Friends.
"I just donated. Will you? Text Turkey to 80088 from a US phone to donate $10 to (the) relief fund."
