Russell Brand is returning to radio to present a show in Britain with rocker Noel Gallagher after quitting his Bbc programme in the wake of his notorious phone prank on veteran actor ANDREW SACHS.
The funnyman was suspended from The Russell Brand Show in 2008 for playing a cruel joke on Fawlty Towers star Sachs, leaving "grossly offensive" messages about the Tv star's granddaughter on his answering machine.
Brand subsequently quit the show, but returned to the airwaves on a different station, TalkSport, for several weeks in 2010.
However, he is now putting the team behind The Russell Brand Show back together for a week-long stint on rock radio station Xfm with Gallagher to promote the upcoming Teenage Cancer Trust (Tct) gigs in London.
Gallagher, who was a regular contributor to the comedian's original series, is curating the charity concerts, and he hopes the newly revived Russell Brand Show will give the gigs a boost.
He says, "Xfm asked me if I wanted to do my own radio show leading up to this year's Tct concerts. I said, 'I have a better idea. Why don't we resurrect what's-his-name's career?' 'Who?' they said.'That hairy, skinny-legged, yogameister (sic) Rustle (sic) Brand? Last seen shaming the nation at them (sic) Olympics', said I. 'Brilliant!' they said. 'You really are a genius'. 'I know', said I. In all seriousness though, it'll be great to remind people how colossal me, (co-hosts) Matt Morgan and Mr Gee were on that b**ody show before Arthur (Brand) got us all the sack. Tune in and see if I'm wrong."
Brand adds, "I miss radio. It was lovely when we did the show. It will be great to get the old team back together."
The Russell Brand Show will return on Xfm in March (13).
