Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons is leaving his native New York and moving to Los Angeles to be closer to his children.
Simmons, who was born and raised in Queens, is shifting his media business to the West Coast and looking to expand into TV and movies, but he admits the main reason for the move is his two daughters, Aoki, 10, and Ming Lee, 12, who live in L.A. with his ex-wife Kimora Lee Simmons.
The Def Jam label founder tells New York Post gossip column Page Six, "I want to spend more time with my kids and move my media business... I will be working more in TV and movies. I will keep my place in the Hamptons."
