Ryan Phillippe - Ryan Phillippe Glad Pal Jimmy Kimmel Is Alive And Well After Tsunami Tweets
Actor Ryan Phillippe has publicly expressed his relief that pal Jimmy Kimmel is alive and well after the comedian was evacuated from his hotel in Bora Bora in the aftermath of the Japanese tsunami last week (ends11Mar11).
The U.S. TV presenter took to his Twitter.com account to let fans and followers know he was in peril as tidal wave warnings were issued to islands across the Pacific - and Phillippe were among friends keeping an eye on his updates.
Kimmel and his girlfriend, who were vacationing in Bora Bora, were evacuated by boat and taken to another island where they climbed a hill and waited for the tsunami to hit. The wave was minimal when it eventually reached the shore and Kimmel and his girlfriend were taken back to the resort.
In a post on website The Huffington Post, the comic wrote, "The hotel manager warned us not to get in the water because the current was strong, but otherwise, it was another perfect day in paradise... We were and are very lucky, almost shamefully so.
"The minor scare I experienced gave me a glimpse of the intense horror Japan is still experiencing."
Phillippe was Kimmel's first guest when the TV host returned to his late night show on Monday (14Mar11) - and the actor admitted he has been following Kimmel's tweets.
He said, "Aren't you guys glad that Jimmy's alive? I was following your tweets and one of my favourite tweets that you retweeted was (from) the guy who asked you whether it was really scary or 'rich people scary'."
