Ryan Reynolds - Ryan Reynolds Fired Into The Air To Cure Height Fear

Ryan Reynolds was fired 200 feet in the air to force him to get over his fear of heights on 'Green Lantern'.

The 34-year-old actor appears as the titular character in the forthcoming comic book-movie adaptation - which also stars Blake Lively and Peter Sarsgaard - and he admits he only got over a crippling fear of being off the ground by force in the first week of filming.

He said: "On the Third Day, they basically fired me 200 feet in the air, at 60 feet per second, and that got me over it right quick. Without an adult diaper or anything, I just did it the regular way. That helped. "After awhile, you're playing on these wires and they're so articulate. The technology for that is amazing now."

However, the Canadian star thinks he did become too "cocky" and wanted the wires to take him everywhere he wanted to go.

He joked to Collider.com: "I was actually getting a little cocky with it, by the end. I was wondering if we could actually find some way to transport me back to my hotel, each day, on the wires. I loved it, after awhile. The best way to get over it is just to do it."

Despite the experience, Ryan - who recently split from wife of two years Scarlett Johansson - has still not got over his fear of flying by airplane, something he puts down to "control issues".

He added: "The fear of flying in a plane is a whole separate issue. I'm being told to get on a commercial airliner and trust a drunk pilot, and I don't like that. I can't see what's in front of me, and there's maybe some control issues there, mixed with a few daddy issues."
