Universal is working on a follow-up to the 2012 hit film 'Safe House'.

David Guggenheim wrote the original script for the movie - which stars Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds - and is now back to the pen the as-yet-untitled continuation.

He has once again teamed up with producer Scott Stuber to continue the action thriller, which saw Ryan portray a young CIA agent overseeing a South American safe house and taking care of a rogue agent (Denzel).

Ryan has said he wants to return to play the CIA agent in the next film, which has yet to be confirmed as a sequel or prequel.

While Denzel's character died in the first film sources say that Universal is keen to have the actor involved again.

'Safe House' - directed by Daniel Espinosa - made $126 million domestically and $202 million worldwide after it's release earlier this year.

David has since gone on to a be a successful writer, with film 'Stolen' - starring Nicolas Cage and Malin Akerman - to be released and 'Narco Sub' which would have been the late director Tony Scott's next movie.

Good movie i'm actually upset to hear they are making a sequel. Safe House was a good enough on it's own a second movie is a bad idea in my opinion. I wrote a quick review of Safe House for anyone interested.
