A statement has been released by Sally Struthers representative, reports The Los Angeles Times. Statement refers to the Struther's arrest.
"Sally is working and she is fine and she loves The Ogunquit Playhouse and her yearly time in Ogunquit. We deny these charges," reads the statement, rather ambiguously. The 65-year-old was arrested early Wednesday morning after being pulled over on U.S. Route 1 in the southern Maine resort town of Ogunquit. She was charged with criminal operating under the influence and posted $160 bail. She will now have to complete her run of "9 to 5" at the Ogunquit Playhouse whilst on bail, which makes for strange reading. Struthers is due in Maine's York District Court on Dec. 13. The good news for the Gilmore Girl's actress, though, is that in Maine, conviction on a first offense with no aggravating factors draws a penalty of $400 plus a 90-day license suspension, and most importantly: no jail time.
Sally enjoys a warm relationship with the people of Ogunquit; "Sally considers Oqunquit to be her second home ... she loves being here," Bradford Kenney, the Playhouse's executive artistic director, told the Portland Press Herald in 2007. "She's an absolutely wonderful person. The town loves her, the audience adores her," said Brian Munger, head of maintenance at the playhouse while directing traffic outside the playhouse. "I hold her in the highest regard."
