Spider-man - Sam Raimi Can't Watch New Spider-spider Man Movies
The 53 year old filmmaker took charge of Tobey Maguire's three Spider-Man movies and still hasn't seen Webb's prequel The Amazing Spider-Man, which hit cinemas last summer (12).
He says, "I didn't see the Spider-Man reboot. I know Marc Webb is a great director, and I love (stars) Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, but as much as I love those people... I just don't want to go to my girlfriend's wedding, with all due respect.
"I guess that means I'm a bad loser? I just love her (Spider-Man franchise) too much! I just have to wait. It would be hard to see her with someone else... with all those other men!"
That said, Raimi admits he didn't enjoy his experience on the set of his third and final Spider-Man blockbuster, and abandoned work on a planned fourth film, which would have introduced Anne Hathaway as Felicia Hardy.
The director reveals he couldn't get a suitable script together in time - and now he wishes he could have ended the trilogy on a higher note.
He tells New York Magazine, "I was very unhappy with Spider-Man 3, and I wanted to make Spider-Man 4 to end on a very high note, the best Spider-Man of them all. But I couldn't get the script together in time, due to my own failings."
