Scala & Kolacny Brothers choir were one of the acts to wow Princess Anne at the Royal Variety Performance.

The daughter of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip represented her parents at the 99th edition of the annual show, held this year on December 5 at the Lowry Theatre in Salford Quays, Northern England, and was impressed with the choir and performers including Tony Bennett, Nicole Scherzinger and Leona Lewis.

Scala & Kolacny Brothers choir - a Belgian women's choir who perform unique renditions of pop songs - performed U2's 'With Or Without You' with 'Britain's Got Talent' TV show winner Jai McDowall, followed by a rendition of Queen track 'Somebody To Love' with Cee Lo and Leona, to rapturous applause.

Following their performance, the group's Steven Kolacny told BANG Showbiz: "It was a huge honour to be one of the artists at the Royal Variety Performance in Manchester.

"The whole cast was impressive and Jai is a really nice guy and beautiful singer.

"The most fun we had was in the final Queen song, with us - Scala - with CeeLo Green and Leona."

Princess Anne attended the event - which was screened on ITV 1 last night (14.12.11) - carrying a posy of white and Pink carnations, and wearing a fascinator, black gloves and elegant black gown, studded with a sparkling silver pattern.

The evening was compered by comedian Peter Kay, for the second time after he initially hosted in 2009.

He joked with the crowd throughout, introducing initial act Cee Lo Green by asking: "Who do you want first? A dog act, a yodelling plate spinner or international award winning pop star?"

Leona sang her new track, 'Hurt', while Nicole gave an operatic rendition of the title song from musical 'The Phantom Of The Opera'.

Singer Pixie Lott performed her hit 'All About Tonight', while Tony Bennett brought the house down with two of his classic tracks, ' The Best Is Yet To Come' and 'How Do You Keep The Music Playing?'.

The show attracted a peak viewing audience of 7.8 million people.
