Scott Bakula officially opened last night's Screen Actors Guild Awards with a (30th January 2011) champagne toast on the red carpet.
SCOTT BAKULA, the American actor and star of 'Men of a Certain Age' and 'Quantum Leap' opened the 17th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards last night with the traditional 'Champagne Tattinger Toast', reports the Los Angeles Times.
As Hollywood's A-listers began to make their way down the red carpet, Bakula popped open the champagne, raised his glass, and simply said, "To the 17th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards", before bellowing, "Welcome!" When asked who he thought would triumphant at the ceremony, the 56-year-old said, "There are some especially beautiful scripts this year, with The King's Speech and The Social Network being two great examples of that". It was indeed Colin Firth's historical drama that scooped the evening's big awards, the British star walked away with the honour of 'Best Actor' while the movie won 'Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture'. Elsewhere, Natalie Portman continued her dominance during this year's award season by being named 'Best Actress' and Christian Bale once again won 'Best Supporting Actor' for his role in 'The Fighter'.
The ceremony included a star-studded list of presenters, including Robin Wright, Jason Bateman, Nicole Kidman, Jeremy Renner, Tina Fey, Sofia Vergara and DONALD SUTHERLAND.
