Screenwriter Don M. Mankiewicz Dead At 93

Oscar-nominated Screenwriter Don M. Mankiewicz Has Died At The Age Of 93.
Mankiewicz passed away of congestive heart failure at his home in Monrovia, California on Saturday (25Apr15).
The son of Herman J. Mankiewicz, who won the Best Screenplay Oscar in 1941 for Citizen Kane, and the nephew of All About Eve writer and director Joseph L. Mankiewicz, Don began his career as a staff writer for the New Yorker, and, in 1954, published his first novel, Trial, which was later turned into a film starring Glenn Ford and Dorothy MCGuire.
In 1958, Mankiewicz received an Oscar nomination for his screenplay adaptation of I Want to Live!
He went on to work in TV and wrote the pilots for Ironside and Marcus Welby, M.D.
His brother, Frank Mankiewicz, who served as an aide to presidential candidates Robert Kennedy and George MCGovern, passed away in October (14), according to The Hollywood Reporter.
