LATEST: A second autopsy on the body of Anna Nicole Smith's son DANIEL has so far failed to determine the cause of his death. CYRIL WECHT, the independent forensic pathologist called in yesterday (17SEP06) to examine the remains, has pleaded for more time to conduct further tests. He admits these could take weeks to complete. However, Wecht ruled out several potential natural causes including heart disease, stroke or a "congenital anomaly", as well as rumours of foul play. Speaking after autopsy he said, "I don't find anything that would cause me to believe there is something in terms of some traumatic injury that was inflicted, or somebody having done something to him in some cryptic manner that could not be observed." The former Playboy model's son, 20, died by her bedside a week ago (10SEP06), three days after she gave birth to his half-sister in the Bahamas. Bahamian pathologists performed an autopsy last Tuesday (12SEP06) and ordered further analysis, including a toxicology test to be completed this week (begs18SEP06). Officials have labelled Daniel's death "suspicious" and have scheduled a formal inquiry, which is set to begin on 23 October (06).
