Selena Gomez's mother is reportedly going to monitor her schedule to ensure she doesn't fall ill again.

The 18-year-old singer-and-actress was hospitalised on Friday (10.06.11) following an appearance on 'The Jay Leno Show' when she developed nausea and a severe headache, and her mother Mandy is now going to make sure she gets some much-needed rest so she can recover properly.

A family friend told website PopEater: "Selena's mom is amazing. She doesn't want to be in the spotlight herself like so many other celebrity parents. Instead, she just wants to make sure that her daughter remains normal while living such an extraordinary life."

Selena - who is dating Justin Bieber - has been very busy in recent weeks promoting her new movie 'Monte Carlo', and it is believed her gruelling schedule contributed to her ill health.

A source said: "Her schedule is insane. She is one of the hardest-working people in showbusiness, but now even Selena knows she needs to slow down. You have no idea how much work goes into promoting a record or film."

Following her trip to hospital, Selena - who is currently recuperating at her home in Dallas - has revealed her symptoms were caused by dehydration and an iron deficiency and she is has vowed to take better care of herself.

She said: "I was very malnourished. I was dehydrated and very low on iron. So, I just gotta take care of myself."
