Legendary comedian PETER SELLERS' son has dubbed plans to remake movie THE PINK PANTHER with actor Steve Martin a "terrible idea".

MARTIN SELLERS, whose dad starred as bumbling INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU in five movies before his death in 1980 - TRAIL OF THE PINK PANTHER was released in 1982 - is convinced the film will flop, because remakes frequently do.

He says, "I think it's a terrible idea. Any remake is never going to be as good as the original.

"Steve Martin did a remake of SGT BILKO and that was a disaster. But I'll still probably go and see it anyway. Just to see what all the fuss is about."
