Shania Twain - Shania Twain Stalker Released On Time Served
A man who admitted to stalking Shania Twain has been freed from jail after a judge sentenced him to three years' probation.
Former doctor Giovanni Palumbo was accused of sending the singer a series of letters, making unwanted visits to her family cottage in Ontario, Canada and attending her grandmother's funeral.
He was arrested at an awards show earlier this year (11) and pleaded guilty to harassment charges on 30 September (11) after Twain openly expressed her fear and anxiety over the situation.
Last month (Oct11), Palumbo was denied bail while awaiting sentencing. However, on Tuesday (15Nov11), Judge Richard Schneider sentenced him to time served, allowing him to be released after seven months behind bars.
Palumbo was placed on three years' probation and ordered to stay 0.5 miles (0.8 kilometres) away from the star, her family and her staff. He must also undergo counselling and cannot contact Twain.
