Charlie Sheen's lawyers want statements made by the actor in the immediate aftermath of his alleged Christmas Day (25Dec09) altercation with wife Brooke Mueller banned from his trial.
The Two And A Half Men actor was arrested in Aspen, Colorado following a bust-up with Mueller in which he allegedly threatened her with a knife.
Sheen has pleaded not guilty to third-degree assault, menacing, and criminal mischief and will stand trial in July (10).
However, his legal team is trying to have certain official documents excluded from court, according to TMZ.com.
Sheen's lawyers have reportedly filed a motion to suppress statements made by the actor shortly after the incident, claiming Sheen felt he was "effectively in custody" when he answered police officers' questions at the scene.
But the attorneys claim police failed to read the star his rights - and they want all the statements made by Sheen in this time excluded from the evidence submitted to court.
Sheen's team has also reportedly filed a motion asking for the prosecution to disclose all of the information available regarding Mueller's statement to cops, including "all attempts on the part of the alleged victim to supplement her statement to law enforcement."
